Batteries
-
Your battery has a different voltage to my battery, can I use it?
Different voltages stated on batteries may be compatible. For example voltages from the same pairs below, are compatible:
- 3.6V / 3.7V
- 7.2V / 7.4V
- 10.8V / 11.1V
- 14.4V / 14.8V
- 21.6V / 22.2V
Any other or higher difference in voltage is potentially harmful to your equipment. Where you are uncertain, you should contact us before using the battery in your device.
-
The capacity of your battery is different to mine, can I still use yours?
Yes. The capacity of a battery does not affect its compatibility in anyway. A higher capacity battery will simply power your device for longer before you need to charge it.
It is important to check the dimensions and weight in addition to the capacity because sometimes higher capacity batteries can be larger in size, making them impractical for some uses even though they are compatible.
-
How long will your battery power my device for?
The best way to determine how long a new battery will last is to follow these steps:
- Find the capacity of your current battery
e.g. 1000 mAh. - Think back to when your current battery was brand new. How long did it used to last in minutes? It's important to think when it was new as all batteries deteriorate with age
e.g. about 60 minutes. - Divide the total minutes (Step 2) by the capacity of your current battery (Step 1)
e.g. 60/1000 = 0.06 - Multiply the results from Step 3 by the capacity of the battery you are looking to purchase.
e.g. if the new battery was 1200 mAh you would calculate as follows 0.06 x 1200 = 72 minutes
- Find the capacity of your current battery
-
How do I know this battery will actually fit my device?
Every device that is listed on our website is linked only with goods/products that are 100% compatible with that device.
If you are still unsure which product is the correct one please contact us and we will be glad to help you out.
-
I am having problems with the battery I have received.
Please contact us for troubleshooting.
-
I've seen higher capacity cheaper batteries on eBay, why would I buy yours?
We believe that 99.99% of batteries on marketplaces like eBay and Amazon are mislabelled to gain a competitive edge. If you think you're getting a 5200 mAh battery think again, it is likely that the real capacity will be closer to 4000 mAh.
In addition to mislabelling batteries, low quality cells are used, it's the only way marketplace sellers can reduce the price and make a profit.
Better Batt exists as an alternative to the high priced originals and the poor quality replacements by providing the best balance of price and quality with the best customer experience.
-
Why is your battery a lower capacity than my original?
There may be a difference in capacity between a Better Batt branded battery and your original.
Original brands manufacture their battery cells precisely to fit the battery casing, maximising the capacity they can squeeze into the case.
When we manufacture a compatible battery often the available cell sizes can't consume the entire battery case, reducing the capacity compared to the original.
The trade off for this slight difference in capacity is the difference in price between an original battery and a Better Batt replacement.
Battery Chargers
-
Will your battery chargers work overseas?
Yes. All of our battery chargers are rated at 100-240V so you can safely use them in any country worldwide. Our chargers use an Australian standard plug so you will need a plug adapter to convert the Australian standard prongs to any other country of your choice.
-
Will your chargers work in the car?
Most of our battery chargers come with both a 240V wall cord and a 12V car lighter cord. If both cords are pictured and listed in the description you can be sure the charger comes with the connection for a car.
-
Do your chargers indicate when my battery is fully charged?
Yes, our chargers are fitted with a simple lighting system to let you know how your battery is progressing on charge.
A green light with no battery inserted signals power to the charger. When the battery is inserted and charging it will indicate a red light. When the battery is fully charged the charger will show a green light.
-
My battery won't charge. The light on the charger stays green and doesn't turn red.
There are four reasons why this may be happening; the charger fits another type of battery, the battery is inserted incorrectly, the charger is faulty or the battery is faulty.
The first step to determining where the problem lies is to ensure the charger you are using is right for your battery.
On our charger you can find the word "Fits..." engraved into the black plastic where the battery sits followed by some part numbers. One of these part numbers should correspond to the battery you are trying to charge.
If you are not sure if the charger is correct, please contact us.
Once you have confirmed you are using the correct charger for your battery you need to ensure the battery is inserted correctly. The positive (+) and negative (-) terminals should align with the corresponding terminals on the charger. Sometimes it's necessary to turn the battery upside down for the terminals to align correctly.
There are normally two terminals on the charger and three on the battery. The charger does not have to make contact with the third terminal on the battery for the battery to charge.
If at this point the charger light still won't turn red, it is recommended to try the charger with another battery. If the charger works with another battery it indicates that the first battery is faulty and needs to be replaced. As all batteries deteriorate with age this is quite common.
If you are confident that the battery is not faulty please contact us to troubleshoot or arrange a replacement.
-
No light comes on my charger when I plug it in
If your charger does not show a light please try using another power point. If that fails try using the supplied car charging cord to test the charger in a vehicle.
If this does not resolve the issue please contact us to arrange replacement.
-
My battery has three metal terminals and your charger only has two
Our charger only needs to make contact with the positive (+) and negative (-) terminal on your battery to charge correctly.
Some battery chargers and batteries also have a third, neutral terminal which is not used by our charger.
The important thing is to line up the positive and negative terminals correctly.
-

Once the terminals are aligned use a small amount of force to insert the battery into the charger.
If the battery is still not fitting or if the terminals do not line up, please contact us to arrange a replacement with the correct charger.
-
Is it possible to overcharge a battery?
Our chargers detect when your battery is fully charged and switch to trickle charge automatically. Trickle charge ensures the battery remains fully charged by putting a very minimal amount of charge into the battery as power is lost. This ensures your battery isn't damaged by overcharging.
-
How long does it take to fully charge my battery?
The easiest and most accurate way to know how long it will take for your battery to fully charge is to use the free Battery Charge Time Calculator.
To use the calculator you will need to know the battery capacity in mAh and the charger output current in mA, both of which can be found on the label of the battery and charger.
If your battery only shows the capacity in Ah or Wh convert the capacity before using the Charge Time Calculator.
Enter the capacity in mAh and the current in mA then hit calculate and the charge time will be calculated for you.
